Zak Margolis is a Portland-based artist and animator. He has worked closely with artists Rose Bond and Jim Blashfield on an assortment of site-specific moving image installations and live video projections. His work with Rose Bond and the Oregon Symphony’s production of Olivier Messiaen’s Turangalila won a 2019 SEGD Global Design Award. In addition, Margolis creates his own animated work, including his recent films A Rat’s Life, Andante Moderato, and An Evening With Father, which have been featured at various festivals and events around the world. He also teaches computer graphics at the Pacific NW College of Art.
